Hearts and Flowers

Hello everyone, it's time for another week on the Chocolate Baroque Challenge Blog, and this week there is a free digital download for you to collect. It's a beautiful download, just great for those floral cards that you might like to make, but if you pop over to the challenge blog, you will see that Florence has made something very different!

I have chosen to make a romantic card that could be used as an Anniversary or Wedding card. I have combined the download with kraft card and cream lace for an alternative colour scheme. I stamped the Poppy Baroque Heart onto a spare piece of kraft card using Versamark and vanilla white embossing powder. I stamped the image again onto a piece of pale scrapbook paper. I coloured the second image using watercolour pencils, toning in with the digital download, before blending the colours with a waterbrush. I cut both images out and layered them up.

I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Sweet Nothings stamp set onto the download background, and then stuck this to a kraft card blank. I added a piece of cream lace, and then adhered the heart using 3D foam pads.

Big Bold Butterfly

Hello everyone, it's the start of the final week of the current challenge over on the Chocolate Baroque Challenge Blog. There are some fab projects from some of the contestants which we are taking a look at this week, plus a free digital download from Lesley which you can use to create some beautiful cards and projects. The Design Team have made some cards using the download for your inspiration.

I decided to use some of my favourite stamps to create a card using the download. I chose a large flower from the Tangled Garden stamp set which I stamped twice using Archival Jet Black ink, and embossed with clear embossing powder. I also stamped several leaves from the same stamp set. I then stamped the body and one wing from the large butterfly belonging to the Patchwork Butterfly stamp set. I coloured all of the images with watercolour pencils and a waterbrush.

I layered the flower and the butterfly using 3D foam pads. I assembled the card, adding a deep plum matting and some die cut sprays in the same colour behind the leaves. I used some flower stamens for the butterfly antennae.

Digital Freebie from Chocolate Baroque

Hello everyone, it's time for the monthly free digital downloads over on the Challenge Blog. The Design Team have been making some projects with the downloads for your inspiration, so please pop over and take a look at what they have been up to.

I have made a card using some Autumn themed stamps, to tie in with one of the images on the background. I drew a circle in pencil on a piece of smooth watercolour paper, and then stamped the images around the edge, creating masks to cover some of the images if necessary. I placed the central stamp on the circle at all times, to ensure that I left enough room for it at the end.

I then cut the circle out, leaving a tiny border around the leaves that stuck out from the edge of the circle. I coloured the background with Cantaloupe Memento Ink, and then added a bit of Rhubarb Stalk around the edges. I used the same colour for the sentiment. I coloured the images with Prismas. These were a Birthday present from my OH, and it's the first time that  have used them!
