It seems strange to be creating such a Wintery card when the weather is so hot, but that is the nature of card making! I chose a palette of blue, lilac and a hint of icy green to create the background for my card.
I stamped the image onto smooth watercolour card, and masked it before colouring the background using the acrylic block technique. (I also used a bit of masking fluid on the little dots, to keep them covered while I was colouring the background.) I used a large glass mat, which enabled me to cover the background all in one go, rather than having to repeat the process for different parts of the background. I then stamped over the top of the background with Distress Inks, using a stamp from the Abstract Fragment stamp set. I added some partial stamping using a stamp from the Decorative Edges stamp set by stamping with Versamark and Wow white embossing powder.
I removed the mask and masking fluid, and coloured the image using Polychromos pencils. I edged the background with Distress Ink to add a bit of shading. I added some flat-backed gems and some ribbon, before attaching the background to a white card blank.
Thanks for stopping by, xx
