Diane Duda Blog Hop

Well it's Friday 19th June, so that means that it's time for the Blog Hop! Everyone has hopefully been beavering away producing pieces of artwork with these yummy rubber stamps. I've loved mine, and I'm sure the others are just as inspiring.

My first card has been made using a muted colour palette of pinks and greens. I've distressed my papers with Tattered Rose and Pine Needles Distress Inks. I've hand stitched my papers together, pricking them first to make it easier. I made my own template for the large heart to echo the heart on the little cat, and copied the stitching pattern to stitch the large heart down. I've coloured my image with Graphitint pencils, Distress Inks and H2O's. I've made a Lollipop flower using the tutorial on the Next Level, sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist, and used a computer generated word which I have inked around with Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

My second card has been made with a black, red and cream colour scheme. I have paper pieced the dress on my image, and then used Distress Inks and H2O's to colour the rest. I have used Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Inks to edge my papers and the red heart this time. I have used cream and red fabric flowers from my stash mounted up with black brads to complete the card.

I have really enjoyed this challenge, and wish that I had had time to make many more cards, as I had ideas for lots more. The stamp is gorgeous, and I can't wait to see the rest of the collection. I am really looking forward to blog hopping later on today, Judith x

Life doesn't seem to slow down!

Well, we had the concrete poured for our footings yesterday, which was great, if a little stressful. The concrete lorry had to use a neighbour's drive, as we have very restricted access, and live some distance from the main road. We had to sign our lives away, and agree to pay for any damage caused to his property. I just couldn't watch while the pump lorry, and the concrete lorry reversed up and down inches past his newly constructed garage. It all went smoothly, thank goodness, but my nerves are only just settling down!

I've been working on the cards for the blog hop this week, so I haven't done much other crafting. I did sneak one card in that I can post today, which is a Leanne Ellis design. These stamps are available from Funky Kits and are produced by Sugar Nellie. This particular stamp is called Poise, and she is my favourite. I have used Distress Inks to colour my image, and to soften the edges of my background paper. I have double stamped a Basic Grey swirl stamp in one corner, and then used a crochet flower, a Papermania pearl brad, and a jewellery component to make the flower. The reverse side of some black ribbon, and some textured black card for mounting, completes the card.
Leanne has produced some more drawings recently, and a couple have really caught my eye, which I really hope become rubber stamps.

I also found a picture of Terry and I from the Ball the other week, so you can see my jewellery in it's proper place. Hopefully, Terry won't read the blog, because I've been keeping this photo as a secret to use as something for Father's day. He and I will have been together for 30 years on Saturday; we started seeing each other at school, when we were 15, and we've been together ever since. Anyone who knows him appreciates just what a patient woman I truly am! So I'm hoping to spoil him a bit that day too, just to show him that romance is not dead after all these years.
I'm working tomorrow and Thursday, so probably won't post again until the blog hop, bye for now, Judith x

Building and Bling!

Well, our footings were dug for our extension last week, hurrah! The stress has started... I'm sure everything will work out eventually, but it's not running smoothly at the moment.

We decided to buy ourselves a little treat to remind ourselves that everything will look lovely when it is all finished, I just wish that I could turn this into a rubber stamp!

The Ball went really well on Saturday evening, we had a great time, and lots of money was raised for the SADS charity, (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome). Please see my earlier post. I am posting a picture of the jewellery that I made to wear, and Debbie, if you read this, hope you like it! The large crystal was something I treated myself to with my Christmas present money, and was quite expensive. Yes Terry does know how much it cost, because he was with me at the time! I have use Swarovski crystal to compliment it in Jade, Emerald and Indicolite, and czech glass beads. I have also used silver filigree hearts to give a vintage feel which I love. I then made a matching bracelet and earrings with silver findings.I don't really have any decent photos of Terry and I in our finery, but I don't like having my photo taken, so that would explain why! I may find one at a later date...

Blog Hop

I got my Diane Duda stamp today, and the blog hop will be on the 19th June. The stamp is gorgeous! I have lots of ideas, but am busy until tomorrow, so will have to wait until then to have a play with it. I will definitely be getting some more of the stamps when they become available, because this one is lovely. Sugar Nellie are producing them, and they will be sold by Funky Kits. Judith x

I can't believe it!

Sugar Nellie are having a Hop Skip and Jump Blog Hop soon, and I get to play with a stamp from the new Diane Duda collection of stamps that are due to be released soon. This is an idea that comes from America really where several people post their work on their blogs with the general details about how the pieces were constructed, and then you hop from blog to blog, looking at all the other art work. There were about 80 of us who asked for a chance to get a stamp, and I think they gave about 35 of us the opportunity. I don't normally win anything, so I'm really chuffed to bits! I don't know the date of the blog hop yet, so when I find out any more details, I'll let you know. Judith x
