Owl Tag

Hello everyone, I have chosen to make a tag to show you today using the Owl Edges rubber stamp sheet showcasing the current stamps of the month from Chocolate Baroque.

I started my project by creating a wrinkle free distress background on a plain tag, using Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks. I stamped the bullrushes across the bottom of the tag using Emerald Green Archival Ink, and added the small branch up one side of the tag using Coffee Archival Ink. I stamped the little owl onto a sticky label and then coloured it with Polychromos pencils. I also coloured the branches with pencils. I added some shading around the edges of the tag using Distress Inks for a bit of depth, and stamped a sentiment from the Steampunk Birds rubber stamp set onto the background.

Finally, I added some co-ordinating ribbon to the tag.

I hope that you have a chance to pop over to the Craft Channel today, as our lovely boss Lesley is demonstrating some of our older stamps on the television. I am sure that she will do a brilliant job, and if you watch the show, you will see lots of the Design Team samples along the way. Thanks for stopping by,
Judith xx

Fab tag buddy! Gorgeous colours and how cute is that little owl! I've been spoilt with a double fix of Lesley's demos over past few days. I stood watching and chatting with her at Port Sunlight on Saturday and then watched the show tonight. All the samples and demos were fabulous and Lesley was brilliant giving lots of really good tips. Can't wait for the next one! The patchwork landscape set is now on my wish list, lol!

Hugs

What a lovely tag. Super colours for your background and the texture from your technique works so well for the sky. Great layout and the small sentiment doesn't detract from the main focus. I caught half of one of the programmes as our recorder was misbehaving, but Lesley was really great, you could tell she was an experienced pair of hands with lots of information to pass on. Great to see the company showcased again. Elaine xxx

The green for the bullrushes & the brown for the twigs gives lovely contrast & I love the way your ribbons pick up on the wrinkle free background colours. Your spacing of the owl & the sentiment has lovely balance as well as the framing effect of the twigs & bulrushes, not to mention the way those twigs lead the eye from left to right across to the sentiment.
