Home again - just temporarily

Well, Terry and I arrived home again yesterday eveningto the wet weather. We had a good break in The New Forest, where it was dry and warm nearly all weekend. The traffic was terrible travelling down on Friday, and the journey took seven hours instead of about four. The M25 was awful. We relived some old memories from our schooldays, as we went on a camping holiday to Brockenhurst when we were about 14. We knew each other then, but weren't boyfriend/girlfriend.

My friend passed away on Friday morning, it was expected, but very sad, as she has left two devastated children behind. When I had last seen her, she had been most relieved about not having had a long painful illness, and so because her deterioration had been so quick, she had not suffered for a long time. However, I look at my two children, and I feel for her children very much, as they are the same age. Her son is spending the day with my son tomorrow, and I'm glad that he can offer him a break from what must be a sad time at the moment.

I have made a very simple sympathy card.

On a lighter note, Kat has given me The 'Circle of Friends Award' and I would like to say a big thank you to her, and everyone else who sent me such lovely comments to cheer me up last week. You are good friends. I now need to pass on the award to five people and let them know. They are:

Jo my Graphicus Guild buddy with the wicked sense of humour who wants me to join the POT Noodle self help group

Anne so busy joining in all the challenges, with a great talent an eye for colour and a love of stamping to match my own

Lynne K who is a faithful follower of my blog, a lover of butterflies, and tries to use her old stash up like I should

Lisa a great photographer who loves her flowers and follows my blog faithfully and is always there for me

Lesley a fellow Graphicus Guild member who looks out for me on my blog

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Judith, how devastating for the family, and devastating for you as well. Your card is perfect, sympathy cards are so difficult to do, and this one is perfect, made with love written all over it.
Sending hugs

Hi Judith. I was so sad to hear your devasting news. What can you say at a time like this. Just give your children an extra hug and appreciate all the little things I guess. Your son sounds like a very special person giving support to his friend.
Your card is beautiful at a difficult time.
I'm thinking of you all.
Take care
Love Lisax

PS Thank you so much for the award, I'm thrilled and shall display it with pride.

So sorry to hear about your friend Judith. But at least she did not suffer for two long. Your card is just lovely. They can be difficult to do but I agree that simple is always best. Take care now.

So sad for that family who will always now have that gap in their lives. I'm sure they will have lots of love and support if their other friends and family are like you.

Many thanks for the award. Looking forward to our crafty chat and shop day - officialy designated a Pot Noodle free zone!

I'm glad you and your Hubby had a lovely break Judith, especially after the awful news you must have had before you left.

From what you have said about your friend the somewhat trite sounding phrase 'It was probably a blessing for her' is more than likely true. It is a blessing she didn't suffer too long but a tragedy for her children and others who were close to her.

I think I'll give my Mum an extra hug the next time I see her because to reach my age (60) and still have a Mum relatively fit in mind and body makes me one lucky lady.

The card you have made is especially beautiful in it's simplicity and perfect for this sad occasion.

Love and hugs
Lesley Xx

PS. I'm so looking forward to spending the day with you and Jo on Thursday. I ought to give the cake a miss (but I won't) and thank you very much for the award. I'm really happy to be sharing it with some lovely people and once I figure out how to do it I shall proudly display it on my blog.

So sorry to hear about your friend, Judith. I hope her family, and you, will be able to take some comfort from the fact that she is no longer suffering. Your card is lovely, and will be much appreciated, I'm sure.

Thank you very much for the award. I'm delighted to receive it and will display it with pride on my blog.

Judith I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. Read an interesting saying the other day, that death out numbers life: everyone dies, but not everyone lives first. I'm sure your friend did lots of living first, at least I hope so.

Thank you so much for the award and I hope you enjoy your break

Hugs
Anne
