Dancing Poppies

Here's a card I made recently for the Chocolate Baroque Design Team Blog using one of the new clear heart stamps. This one is Poppy Baroque Heart.

I stamped a row of poppies across my background card, using a stamp from the 'Pretty Poppies' stamp set. I used Eclipse masking tape to enable me to make the row of poppies look three dimensional. I then coloured the background with Pan Pastels to create a mottled sky effect.

I used Distress Markers to colour the poppy images. The sentiment comes from the 'Artistic Expressions' stamp set. I stamped the heart onto a spare piece of card, coloured the image with Distress Markers as before, then covered the whole piece with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder.

Poppies are my favourite flower, as many of you know. It was a real pleasure to work with these stamps, and I think I shall be using these a lot more!

A Valentine Book Card

Hi Folks, I have a couple of samples featuring some recently released stamps from Chocolate Baroque to show you today. The stamp plate is called Rose and Thistle, and has a lovely mix of stamps on the plate:

I have created a book card using kraft card as my base, and used a printable download from Chocolate Baroque called 'Love Letters'. I have stamped the large single rose image onto this, and coloured it with pencils. I stamped the rose heart image onto a smaller piece. and decoupaged this onto the main background. I used a sentiment from another stamp set 'Harlequin Rose', which I matted onto black card.

Inside the card, I created a niche for a gift, or some chocolates maybe, using some more of the download to line the niche, and the opposite side of the card. I used black paper to punch a border for the niche.

My next sample is a clean and simple card, featuring the large thistle stamp. I stamped the thistle image onto a cream card base, and then masked the image with Eclipse masking tape. I spritzed the card with three different colours of Distress re-inkers and water. I then coloured the thistle image, and added a sentiment in one corner. Some toning matting finished the card.

My first card is showing over on the Design Team Blog today there has been some fabulous inspiration this month with these stamps from my Design Team mates. I hope that these two cards have also given you some ideas. Thanks for stopping by, xx

More than one fold/Anything Goes

Hi Folks, well slightly later than planned, I am posting my project for the Artistic Inspirations challenge this week. I've not been well, having struggled with a bad migraine and then some sort of sickness bug that my OH kindly gave me after a trip away. There are better presents that he could have brought back, lol!

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit better now, so onto this week's project. I've made a double Z fold card, basing my template on an idea from the Splitcoast Stampers resource website. I often look on there for card ideas if I want something different. First of all, I prepared a piece of watercolour card, by colouring it with Distress stains, using the wrinkle free method, and then once it was completely dry, I ironed it flat, and ran it through my printer to get both of the images from Eureka stamps onto the paper. I cut them out with rectangular shapes, and roughed up the edges with a distressing tool. I inked the edges with Distress ink. I coloured the butterfly and flower image with pencils.

I rummaged through my paper stash, and used some papers from Prima, and My Mind's Eye to complete the card, colouring all of the edges with Distress ink.

We have some great sponsors this week on the blog:

A little bit shabby, a little bit Baroque

Hi Folks, I have a sample to show you using one of the new clear heart stamps available from Chocolate Baroque This one is called Poppy Heart. I decided not to go for the obvious bright reds in this sample, but opted for a more subtle shabby pink palette. I created a background using some ornamental leaf shapes taken from the Breath of Spring stamp plate, and the now retired Filigree Fusion stamp plate.

I have decoupaged the heart image, and added a sentiment from the Harlequin Rose stamp set.

The Design Team have been very busy creating some fabulous samples over on the Design Team Blog and it would be great if you could pop over and take a look. I have some samples to post over there myself in the coming days.

Thanks for stopping by, xx

Add a bit of Sparkle/Anything Goes

Hi folks, I'm here with a project for the Artistic Inspirations Challenge Blog and the theme this week is Add a Bit of Sparkle/ Anything Goes. I have used an image from QKR called 'Girlfriends' which I have cut out using a wonky square Nestability shape. I then coloured the image with Polychromos pencils.

I have made an easel card, and used Crafty Individuals backing paper in soft pastel shades for the background. I used the paper as my inspiration when colouring the image. There are so many colours in the paper, I couldn't go wrong! The sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque.

I added some glittery ribbon and some flat-backed gems for a bit of sparkle to finish.

I don't normally do cute cards, but this will make a great storecupboard card for when I need a card in a hurry. I think the image would put a smile on anyone's face.

This week there are some great prizes over at the challenge blog:

QKR are offering 5 digis of the winner's choice

You can make a card, a tag, an altered box, a mixed media piece, whatever you like. So why not have a go, and join in the challenge? Please pop over and see what my Team mates have been up to.
