WOYWW it's been a looooong time!

Hello everyone, I thought that I would give you an update on my newest crocheting project, and as it is Wednesday, I would link to Julia Dunnit's 'What's on your workdesk Wednesday' blog post. I used to visit and blog for this post fairly regularly, but as we all know, life gets in the way, and I have not had a chance to pop in for ages.

My craft desk is messy, as per usual, and don't even mention the rest of the room! I am recovering from an op at the moment, it is a long haul, and I just cannot lift some of the heavier boxes to have a proper tidy up. It is my intention this year to declutter the room, and get rid of things that have not been used for more than a year or two. I have this feeling that it would be unfair to leave a mess for the family to sort out after I have gone, lol! I have no intention of shuffling off just yet, but I would like to be able to get to the four corners of the room, so a good tidy up would be a sensible thing to do.

I generally work on our large dining table in our very light and airy extension. This room is perfect for crafting, as the space is much less cluttered than my craft room, and I have lovely views of the garden to inspire me as I work. At the moment, I cannot show you much of what is lurking on that table, as there are DT projects as yet to be revealed.

My current 'desk' is the sofa, where I have been crocheting most evenings, accompanied by one or the other of my two cats.

Having finished my Lily Pond blanket recently, I have moved onto a larger sunny log cabin blanket, designed by Lucy from attic24. The rainbow colours are really beautiful, and very cheery on these colder, often gloomy days. I am looking forward to putting the blanket together, as it has a very clever design of hot and cold colour sections, that create larger diamonds once the squares are all attached together. So far, I have only completed three larger squares around the smaller granny squares, but you may start to see the larger pattern starting to form:

I have crocheted all sixteen of the smaller granny squares in readiness to finish the big squares, and am sewing my ends in as I complete each square. There is an element of darning required due to the nature of the pattern design, otherwise the ends could be crocheted in as you go along.

I hope that you have enjoyed your visit to my makeshift desk today, and I will try to pop along to see as many of you as possible. Thanks for stopping by, xx

Oh, I can identify with you on so many levels!! First the desire not to leave loads of stuff when you 'pop off'! Since clearing my parents' bungalow, I have been de cluttering like a mad woman. It'll all happen in good time though, take good care of yourself while recuperating and then you can attack it with a vengeance :-)
I'm a Lucy Attic 24 fan too (in fact I got the pattern for this week's blankets from one of her tutorials) and I love the log cabin squares, they're a bit of a different look from the usual crochet stuff. Your cat under the square tickled me, that's what mine do too, lol!

Your 'desk' looks lovely & comfy & it looks as if one of the cats approves not just of the sofa but your crocheting. It's a very clever design isn't it? The hot & cold placement makes a magical final design. With your eye for colour I can really appreciate this being a superbly cheering project for you to be working on whilst recuperating.

I hope you get well soon. Just take it easy.
Oh what a lovely blanket, the log cabin one. I think Mamapez (Kate Perry) made one too. I have looked at that website and i like it a lot. Only I'm not sure where I would get all those colours from as that is the key to the beauty of the blanket.
Thanks for visiting,
Have a good week,
Lisca

Hello Judith, what a wonderful blanket this is going to be, the colours are so bright and sunny, even the cool shades. I love the puss sitting on your legs covered with the blanket as you crochet, they do know the best placed to sit.
Looks a fabulous selection of yarn on your sofa.
Hope you are continuing to improve, but take it easy, Kate x

Looks like you have a cosy space there and the cat obviously thinks so! We all get the wool out when the weather is colder. Yes the thought of leaving all the mess when we leave has occurred to me and my friend Steph. We have a pact the whoever is left clears the others stash - no one else would appreciate it! Have a great week x Jackie 23

Lovely to see you Judith. I'm an evening crocheted too, but nothing as intense (or vibrant) as you are working on, it's lovely. Continue to improve, but take it easy gal.

Hi Judith, Hope you are taking it easy after your op. No point over doing things.

I did smile at you wanting to sort out, so your family doesn't have as much to sort. I have been doing the same this year. Like you I don't intend going yet:)

Loving the crochet. You might find this useful http://www.knittinganyway.com/freethings/russianjoin.htm

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Lovely colors...thanks for the visit. I have declutter on my list also. Some things I've donated and don't even know what I took there. Don't want my sons to think I was a hoarder in later life !!! Continue to improve with your health issues, spring, & sunshine will help.

Hi Judith, LOVE those deliciously vibrant colours in your crochet and your photo made me smile - my little cat used to like to "help" me crafting and I do miss his company, even though he didn't really mix too well with balls of wool. Take care of yourself, and have a great week :o) Annie C #25

Gorgeous gorgeous crochet, Judith! Love to see your kitty too - they always like to snuggle up and get warm, don't they! Thanks for your lovely comment - I'm feeling very encouraged at the moment and picking up the threads of my life again, and enjoying getting back to music again after so long, too. I hope you make a speedy recovery from your surgery - nothing better than to relax on the settee and do some crochet and cuddle a kitty.

I can relate to the not being able to tidy and working from a chair for the last several months. It amazed me how messy the space seemed to get when I wasn't even using it! I love the colors of that log cabin blanket very bright and beautiful! Thanks for the visit and I hope you continue to feel better each day!

Hi Judith

I hope your recovery is speedy and you're back to your normal self ASAP. I think we've all been there at some point or another.

My family are all getting quite exasperated as I seem to have spread from my craft room to the sofa and the dining table too. Every so often I have a bit of a tidy up but it soon creeps back!

Thanks for stopping by this week!
